Prepaid Cell Phones, Anyone?

It is a fact that in the mobile phone industry today, there exists fierce, cutthroat competition among its players. The fight for the large share of the cell phone market is the goal of most major wireless service providers that they resort to all types of promotions such as generous freebies and give-aways, all of which are meant to attract more patronage.

In order to lure buyers and customers, mobile phone providers and manufacturers give out free cell phone ring tones, games, wall papers and other cell phone accessories. Now, even prepaid cell phones are being given away for free just to capture more buyers.

How do cellphone manufacturers make profit when they are actually giving away their units? The prepaid cell phones are free, yes, but then you have to buy prepaid cards or call minutes in order to make calls. And prepaid call cards have to be purchased from the manufacturers regularly. Therefore, profits are earned despite the free handsets.

There are other manufacturers who would not provide free prepaid cell phones, but instead as a come-on, they will sell dirt cheap prepaid cell phones. Still it can really be a bargain especially if you can get the unit for as low as 60 to 80 percent of its regular price.

What SIM Card Does Your Cell Phone Have?

Many mobile phone models such as T-Mobile and Verizon Cell Phone utilize a Subscriber Identification Module Card or more popularly known as SIM card. A cell phone issues such card in order to provide service to any mobile phone on which it is inserted and activated.

When it comes to recognition of SIM cards, there are two types of cell phones: the locked and unlocked cell phone.

Locked mobile phones can recognize the SIM card only on one cell phone service provider. For example, if you have a Verizon cell phone and it is locked, you can only use a SIM card from Verizon.

Unlocked cell phone on the other hand can accommodate SIM cards from any provider such as AT&T cell phone or Verizon.

Why are there locked cell phones being sold by providers? The sole reason is because the major providers give away discounted or even free cell phones. However, these can be availed of with the condition that it is a locked mobile phone, which means it will be used only with the carrier’s SIM card.

Of course, there are many providers which will otherwise offer customers with an unlocked cell phone. However, the price of a unit will have a dramatic jack up – from being a free cell phone to almost its full regular price. At least, you may use your unit with a SIM card of your choice.

Ever Used Cell Phone Jammers?

Many cell phone calls done on public places are important ones. Unfortunately, for other people, any phone conversation is considered a nuisance, especially in places such as the theater, food establishments, churches and malls.

Cell phone jammers disrupt mobile phone signals in the same mechanism as that of any other type of radio jammer. We all know how a signal from one cell phone in a particular area reaches another cell phone by means of towers.

Cell phone jammers device send the same type of radio frequency like that of the cell phone, disrupting whatever communication signals between the mobile phone and the tower’s base station. So it is rather easy to jam anyone’s cellphone by using a cell phone jammer broadcasting the appropriate frequency.

Albeit various cellular phone systems process incoming signals, all cellphones utilize and can interrupt radio signals. The jammer’s actual range is dependent on the power of the device as well as its location such as the hill or building walls that can block the signal.

A cell phone jammer is indeed an effective way to disrupt cell phone signals with the intention to stop any phone conversation, especially if such conversation is a major bother to people around.

Motorola RAZR Cell Phone Accessories

The Motorola RAZR cell phones are one of the best mobile phone models, at least among Motorola cellphones. A friend who owns one really finds it cool and even brags about the unit’s many features. Knowing that I just recently opened a cellphone blog, he asks if I can help him find the places to get the best cell phone accessories online for his Motorola RAZR cell phone.

Here are a few suggestions on the best online places to go for some nice cell phone accessories for your RAZR.

Online mobile phone shops and stores have the best and most complete line of accessories, there’s no doubt about that. One cell phone site is the cell-phone-accessory.com. Great online customer service, a wide variety of accessories. Best of all, the prices are very cheap, compared to other online cell phone shops.

If going for other online shops, consider only the more established ones. The best thing to do is to make a list of online cellphone sites, check on their product inventory and prices and choose which among them provides their customers the best offers.

You can also go to EBay for your cell phone accessory requirements. You will definitely find anything that you need at Ebay. The prices are competitive and you don’t need to worry about getting your order on time as most vendors are prompt in delivery.

On Phonebooks and Cell Phone Numbers

Remember those times when you have a small notebook with the listings of all the telephone numbers that you need to keep such as that of your family, friends, acquaintances.

Seems like gone are those days as most of the numbers that we have to remember now are cell phone numbers. And how easy it really is to keep them on the mobile phone’s memory, particularly on the cell phone menu’s Contacts feature.

Indeed, some cellphone models can actually store in three to a thousand cell phone numbers, and it is just easy to retrieve any of these numbers that you need to call at any time. Just go to the corresponding name you assigned to the mobile phone number and voila! A quick call can be made.

I know a friend who still maintains his thick phone book, which contains not just land line numbers but a long cell phone number list as well. A back-up list he told me. The fact is, this friend of mine stores in (fastidiously, that’s how I see it) all the mobile phone numbers that go his cell phone’s way.

All first time callers will surely have their numbers stored on his phone. He says this practice saves him from embarrassment as he does not want anyone calling him a second time, and him not knowing who the caller is.

In my case, I would never acquire this habit. That’s why there are many instances when I would go through the cell phones numbers of the calls that I received, which unfortunately gets unsaved on my mobile’s phonebook as I can’t remember who the callers are.

I have not tried locating and finding out the identity of a caller via reverse cell phone number searches. And I don’t think I would try doing it. If the number gets to be left without knowing who the caller it, I let it be. That’s why in my cell phone’s phonebook, you can find unknown # 1, unknown # 2, #3, #4…

Pressing Need for Reverse Cell Phone Directory

I am sure there are instances when you need to locate someone, a previous caller but then the only link is a cell phone number. The first thing that you might try to go for help is the Internet to search the person. You try to Google to make a cell phone number search, hoping that you might be able to locate the person via the reverse search.

Actually, this is not possible. As of the present, there isn’t an official reverse cell phone directory online. Albeit small cell phone directories have come up to be of great service to many mobile phone owners.

A typical directory will have you opt in your given cellular phone number; this gives you permission to look for a particular number. You need not worry about your number being fed to sales companies as they assure confidentiality of your number.

Hopefully in the future there will be created a reverse cell phone directory. Such service will be of great convenience to most cellphone owners who need important phone number information. As of the present, AT&T has yet to come up with an official cellphone listing – still you are able to secure numbers of AT&T cell phones via the Internet.

AT&T cell phones are among the most sought after mobile phones today, so it is a given that a lot of mobile phone owners are registered under the company. Surely, you will get accurate results when you at least search for AT&T cell phone numbers on the internet.

Ringtones as free cell phone accessories? Well, many mobile phone sellers give them out, yes, for free. But then, of course, you have to purchase the unit from them. With the large booming cellular phone industry, many companies now jostle for strategic positions in order to get a great share of the market.

One of the companies that have a lion’s share of the mobile phone market is the Cingular Cell Phone, the services of which is one of the most admired, especially when it comes to customer care. They ensure that they provide excellent customer service to their clients.

Disposable Cell Phones, Anyone?

Have you heard about disposable cell phones? Yes, being developed is a mobile phone product that you can avail of from a dispensing machine – a cell phone that is already loaded with a certain amount of talk time.

It is still in the process of product development and refinement, and studies are also made if it is a viable cell phone product, with a sufficient market that is. Vending stations full of disposable phones will be distributed on strategic areas such as the bus and train stations, supermarkets and public locations.

The developers and manufacturers of these one-time usable communications devices are intended to be replacements for public pay telephones. They will also be made available at inexpensive prices.

One problem however with the device is that when you buy and use the cell phone and consume the allotted talk time, the unit is rendered useless. This means you have to purchase another one in order to continue with your conversation. Don’t you think this is a rather inconvenient for anyone, especially if you are into a very important call?

Besides, why disposable cell phones, when almost everyone already has their own. I think the more important product to be sold on vending machines are prepaid talk time cards, am I right?

Hopefully, with more studies and research on the disposable mobile phone by the manufacturers and producers, they may be able to determine if the product is indeed one of the more important communications gadget or not.

Gadget Limiting Use of Cell Phone on Theaters

What is more annoying than a cell phone ringing in a middle of an engrossing film being shown inside the theater? Surely, anyone would like to get up and give some good words to the inconsiderate fellow. I really can’t understand why people simply would not turn off their mobile phone before entering the movie theater.

Good news for film aficionados who love going to theaters totally devoid of cell phone rings. A gadget that blocks incoming cell phone calls in the theater is now installed in many theaters in the US today. It prevents owners from using the cell phone once inside the movie theater itself. This effectively disables the mobile phone from doing and receiving phone calls.

Of course, to prevent unwanted commotion among mobile phone owners who might wonder why their units are not working, theater managers post on the box office or any conspicuous place in the lobby of the theater a sign that says “there is no cell phones signal inside the theater so making and receiving calls are not possible.”

The sign also advises people that if they need to make calls, they have to go out to the theater lobby to do so.

This is definitely a great device as who would want distractions inside the theater especially if you are totally engrossed in the movie being shown. What’s also great is that there are no more confrontations happening between an offending cell phone user and the affected patrons.

On the other hand, theater management will surely not have to deal with complaints about the use of mobile phone inside the theater. Isn’t this a great way of stopping the abuse of some people when using cell phones.

Is Cell Phone Internet Feature Cool?

The use of cell phones is as commonplace as, like, your need to have your everyday lunch. Life has never been the same again with the invention of mobile phones. In fact, everything has become much better, easier and more convenient, in terms of communication with the use of the cell phone.

Mobile phone technology has grown by great leaps and bounds. Camera cell phones. Music phones. You can use cell phones nowadays to watch and enjoy your favorite movies. Features you thought could never happen now exist and enjoyed by mobile phone users. So, who knows what the next amazing feature to be discovered is.

Internet phones? Many high-tech brands have been equipped with this feature, being able to log on to websites via the cellular phone. But, has this feature made great strides and earned popularity among phone owners? Unfortunately, no.

I myself am not sold to the idea of checking on some sites or opening up my emails from my Nokia cell phone. I have my PC. In my case, when WAP began forcing to have its presence felt, I thought there is no need for me to make a decision of changing my phone just to accommodate this feature.

Many friends that I knew used WAP found this feature slow and dragging. Besides, the best way to use internet on a cell phone is to have a model that possesses big screens that will make viewing and reading easier. One of the best models of mobile phone for WAP and Internet is the Nokia N95.

If you are an advocate of cell phone internet, there are actually many advantages which you may use to convince mobile phone users to avail of this feature such as searching for establishments like an office or restaurant. Internet on cell phone is also useful if you want to buy tickets for movies. Checking emails is, as mentioned, one of the major advantages of cell phone internet. Still and all, I still like internet on where it should be, on my PC.

My Cell Phone Brands of Choice

Throughout the years, I have known, owned and used different types, shapes and colors of mobile phones. Many are good buys, some are really excellent brands I was just too happy I made the purchase. Here in this post, I wrote a short list of cell phones that I have used:

First of course is Nokia, the world-famous cell phone brand from Finland. Nokia is now recognized as the world leading mobile phone manufacturer. For me, when it comes to owning and using cell phones, Nokia should be the top choice, if only terms of functionality. Even first time owners who use cell phones by Nokia for the first time will really find the gadget user-friendly. The model that I have owned: Nokia 5110, 3210, 3230, and 6110.

Next, I got to own a nice model of Motorola V3 flip top. It does have useful features, but does not even come close to the user-friendly specs of Nokia. But even as a flip top, I find Motorola cool because of its compactness. I guess the flip top characteristic is what can be associated with this brand. Many say Motorola Razor mobile phones are such cool brand.

Sony Ericsson is another great mobile phone brand, from Swedish Ericsson and Sony of Japan. If it’s something made Japanese, nothing can turn out bad, right? And in the case of Sony Ericsson models, they all come sleek and trendy; they can compete with Nokia when it comes to appearance and compactness. Sony Ericsson K750i is definitely one of the most popular brands with it comes to modern cell phones.

Cell Phone, Anyone?

Ask me a brand of cell phone that I know, and immediately what comes to mind is Nokia. Well, at least in my case – and perhaps millions of other cell phone users. The cell phone brand Nokia has become synonymous with this communications gadget, which has through the years evolved from being a luxury to an instrument that is indispensable in a person’s everyday life. But the fact is, there are many other well-known cell phone brands found in the market because of sheer demand of the product.

Using a cell phone has become a common everyday routine, that without it for even a day you seem disconnected to everyone else. It is like the internet, something you seem cannot live without. With the proliferation of cell phone, it has eclipsed the beeper, rendering it obsolete and useless.

Who needs beepers (and the often discourteous operators), when cell phones can transmit SMS or short message, or more popularly known as text message as quickly as you send it to someone? Beepers reign in the early 90’s, but by the end of this decade the use of cell phones showed immense promise.

Nowadays, who does not have a cell phone? It is a commodity that even the have-not’s can, well, have. Even for less than 100 dollars, one can own a decent cell phone. And having one equips the owner with open communication lines to everybody else whom he furnishes his number. One wants to talk with everyone else. And the use of cell phone definitely fulfills this need.
