Free Prepaid Cell Phones: With Strings Attached

Many of us wanted to take advantage of those free prepaid cell phones online or from the brick and mortar cell phone shop. But have you actually stopped to think and wonder if it is actually a free prepaid cell phone – meaning, did you receive your phone as a 100 percent free offer, and that no dime was spent or there were no strings attached?

Of course, this is not really the case. Cell phone companies give away free prepaid cell phones because the companies ask them to sign contracts in return. Such contracts are called mobile phone plans which ties up the receiver of free phone units to a certain period, usually lasting from 1 to 2 years.

So if you are happy that the cell phone you got for free is worth several hundred dollars, they will get back such amount, even much more, from the cost of service that you will pay them.

Despite getting tied to a contract, there are still benefits for taking advantage of this cell phone plans. The most important is that you get to own a cell phone, and more often than not, you get to choose the model you like.

If on the other hand, you are turned off by the contract, you can opt to pay for the unit instead of getting a free prepaid cell phone. This way, you can disregard the contract, and you are free to take control of your unit, and of course you are also able to completely manage your call and text expenses.
